Pilgrims Landing This painting was commissioned by someone whose relative was one of the original pilgrims. He shared all his research information with me, including information from the ship’s log. The indians that they thought were watching and waiting to harm them are shown in the painting. When they finally went on land, they found their fears unwarranted, as the indian villages where they landed were empty due to disease contracted from French and English trappers years before.
