Holding Over In late fall the pull of migration is strong along the Atlantic coast and the Chesapeake Bay. Canvasback ducks begin leaving when the weather becomes too harsh. For some uncanny reason, these two see the decoy as a real duck and decide to follow his lead and hold over.
